Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I apply?

You can apply by following the directions at this site.

Is camp fun for staff?

Of course! It would be foolish to think that camp is ONLY fun and games for the staff, but wowzers what a hoot! Come make some new friends and have a blast mentoring young people!

Can my position at camp count as an internship?

We sure hope so! We are more than happy to chat and see if a position on our summer camp staff will fulfill the requirements for which you are looking. We would love to partner with you to help meet requirements of potential internship opportunities.

Is there an age requirement?

Some positions have age requirements, but not all do. If you are not selected for a salaried position, you can still apply to volunteer at Camp Heritage and gain valuable experience, with your room and board covered.

Where is Camp Heritage located?

Camp Heritage is located at the 60 mile marker of the Lake of the Ozarks. It takes just a tad over two hours to reach Kansas City to the northwest. It takes just over 3 hours to reach the St. Louis airport, which is northeast of the camp. We are an hour and a half from Springfield, Missouri which is southwest of the camp. Our mailing address is 376 Camp Heritage Road, Climax Springs, Missouri 65324.

Camp Heritage is located just over 5 hours from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska; approximately 10 hours from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee; a little less than 9 hours from SWAU in Keene, Texas; and about 8 1/2 hours from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

What’s the Summer Schedule?

All staff are expected to be at Camp Heritage by May 30, 2024. Some staff may need to report earlier, depending on the specific position. The last day for all staff will be July 25, 2024.

Is there a deadline to apply?

We are filling positions on an ongoing basis. There is no official deadline, but some positions do fill quickly, so we recommend that you apply as soon as you can. Leadership positions will typically fill the earliest.

Do I get any time off?

Time off for our staff is very important to us. During our full-week camps (Cub, Junior, Teen) you will receive a full day off, which will start right after our evening campfire program. During our other weeks, you will receive approximately a half day off.

Will I have access to technology?

Our campers and staff have an incredible opportunity in greatly reducing their media consumption during their time at Camp Heritage. At the current time, there is not much cell signal at our camp. However, we do have significant WiFi signal available. We expect the campers and the camp program to be the primary concern of our staff team; however, during their time off, our staff members are welcome to log on. Cell service is available at the entrance to our camp.

How much will I earn?

Summer of 2023 salaries will range from $1400 to $2250, with adjustments upwards based on exact position and previous experience. Your room and board will also be covered. In addition to your salary, your school may offer a scholarship based on how much you earn or the number of weeks you work at Camp Heritage. Check with your local school to see if they offer a scholarship matching program.

How many staff do you hire for summer camp?

Camp Heritage hires approximately 45-50 staff for summer camp. We also have several volunteers, including a Pastor of the Week and Nurse of the Week each session.
